Student Development Grant Summary
History:
The Student Development Grant was the result of an idea brought forth by the CCC Alumni Association Board of Directors at a meeting held in August 2007. The board was discussing different ways to financially support student development/academic opportunities. It was decided to allocate a pool of money and encourage students to apply for the funds on a first come, first served basis until the funds run out.
Student Development Grant Guidelines:
The Student Development Grant can be used for the following:
- Support individual student travel to an off campus event such as a local, state, or national educational conference
- Support educational projects in collaboration with a faculty member
- Support educational projects where other sources of funds are not available
- Other programs/events/projects that enhance student development
How to apply for a Student Development Grant:
- Grant applications can be found on the CCC alumni website.
- Grant application must be completed and e-mailed to the alumni office 3 weeks in advance of the event/program/project (grant money will not be awarded for an event that has already occurred)
- All application materials MUST be e-mailed. If requesting travel money for a conference, attach an electronic copy (pdf) of the pamphlet or invite letter
- The Faculty Advisor must contact the Alumni Office and give approval
Procedure for awarding the Student Development Grant:
- The Student Development Grant Committee will review each application and choose the recipient based on the merit of the application
- An e-mail is sent to the student alerting them of the award (copy to Faculty Advisor)
- Request for the student to write a thank-you letter to the Alumni Association
- Request for pictures of the event/program for possible publication in Alumni materials, the Alumni web-site and/or newsletters
Student Development Grant Award Amounts:
- The 2011/12 balance of the fund is $8,000 and awards will be made until all funds have been spent.
- The maximum award is $500 per student with no application deadlines – first come, first served
